The Cat's Meow

Every night at 9:00 pm our fourteen year old cat, Sassy begins to demand her nightly canned cat food service.  My husband is the one who she goes to with her meows and yowls.  It is uncanny how she seems to sense the time.  It’s also comical how she searches out Wayne to demand her food.   Even if I’m sitting near the food source she walks to him and loudly meows until he gets up and serves her a can of cat food.
Last week Wayne was out of town for the week and I was very ill.  While she always has dry food available the soft food is served on demand.  I realized on Friday night as Wayne returned home that she had never requested canned food from me.  I realized this as Sassy once again walked up to Wayne and began to demand her dinner at, of course, 9:00.

  1. Aww - an empathetic cat? She knew you were ill? Or, she knows the yummy food comes from another...! Funny post.

  2. I think Sassy knew you were ill. We have two old cats...22 years old and they get soft food now...but have hard food available at all times. It seems like they take turns asking for food...and usually choose whoever is nearest. Cats are funny...and yes, they do seem to 'own us'...but would you have it any other way? I enjoyed your post. 3. I love how much personality she has. My dog is hilarious when we feed her. Whoever is not feeding her gets a face full of kisses as she celebrates her food going in the bowl. I love how excited she gets for her bowl of food!

  4. Cats are interesting, aren't they? Who says cats don't have a sense of compassion.
