My Favorite Number

Recently I was commiserating with a friend over the difficulty of teaching young children to count past the ‘Tricky Teens’, she shared that one of her strategies was to claim 13 as her favorite number.    I suddenly recalled my love for the number 13.  The next day I circled the 13 in the date, and highlighted it in our number of the day.  I  shared my love for the number with the class.  In the past week I’ve shared my ‘excitement’ on several occasions.  Today I again featured the number thirteen and as I added dots to the ten frame, a little voice came from the back of the rug.  “Oh look, Mrs. Kidder! “  “It’s my favorite number….13”
